When it comes to cooking in a restaurant it really doesn't matter if you have the best
chef in the world or a line cook when it comes to using a commercial microwave oven to make life easier in the
kitchen. Don't get led into thinking that a commercial microwave means you are compromising on your gourmet food
preparation. They have many more uses then simply cooking.
Of course you can use a commercial microwave to help bring a recipe together a lot faster
then coking on a stove top. Taking advantage of this just makes sense when you are working in the fast pace
restaurant industry. Anything you can do to make things faster without sacrificing quality is a good
thing.
Other uses of a commercial microwave oven include defrosting foods that your chef may not
have had time to defrost normally. You can also use it to heat up soups to put in your soup kettle saving you time
and a stove top burner in the kitchen. Both of these processes can be quickened through the use of a commercial
microwave freeing your kitchen resources for other more important tasks.
Commercial microwaves come in a number of different power levels, brands and types. Some

everything from a 2100 watt heavy duty commercial microwave to a 700 watt light duty convection oven microwave
oven.
Of course there are a number of different sizes that these are offered in as well. These
can be anything from a mini sized that can be stacked with other microwaves to the biggest. since most of their
offerings are programmable you can usually hit one button to start melting butter, thawing meat or baking
potatoes.
Most of the commercial microwave offerings are compact and sleek looking with stainless
steel exteriors. They usually have an interior that lends itself to easy cleaning as well. Most offerings come
complete with a turntable or similar device that makes sure food is cooked evenly.
As mentioned in the first paragraph your trained chef may not use the commercial microwave
to actually prepare the meals they make. But they should be included in there repertoire of kitchen
tools. Something as inane as softening cream cheese will take about 30 seconds in a commercial microwave but
if not used it would have to be taken out early in the day to be in the right state later.
By doing something as simple as heating up your sauces in a
commercial microwave means you don't have to have all of your sauces out at the same time. this saves time and
space on the stove top. In fact by making a lot of the ancillary activities around the kitchen easier using a
commercial microwave will not impinge on the integrity of your chef culinary skills one bit. In fact with the huge
variety and choice available you can easily find one that is the right power and size for your kitchen.
